  1. To me research is very boring and makes me very tired. If i had to rate myself i would give myself a 4 because i am very good with the computer. The easiest part of researching is finding the material. The hardest part is finding out if it is true and accurate. I choose a topic that interests me and will give me motivation.

  2. When I think of research I think of an annoying and difficult project. I don't enjoy it at all. On a scale of one to five im a 3. The easiest part of research is finding dates and time periods to when stuff happends. But it's hard 2 find out specific facts. Choosing a topic is easy you either choose what u know or what interests u.

  3. I think of the word "research" as an assignment which I don't feel is very fun. If I would rate myself as a researcher I would give myself a 3 because I am okay at finding information.

    ReplyDelete
  4. When I hear the word "research" I get worried and get worked up because I do not want to get a bad grade.I also think how much i do not like it. I would rate my self as a 2.6 because I am not fully unsure but not extremely sure.I think the easy part in research is getting the topic and finding out the first parts about the topic. The difficult part is moving your words into an essay. My weaknesses are taking information and making an essay to make it sound right. also my strengths are finding out information and collecting it all. You can choose a topic by something that you know a lot about and are good with.

  5. The word, "research" is annoying to hear. It usually is really time consuming. It depends on what I'm researching about to feel confident or not. Sometimes you're assigned a topic, which is worse than picking your own because you may not know much about what you're writing about. Choosing a topic is easy if you know what you want to write about though. I would generally be a 3 or 4 for researching, depending on the topic. The easy part is writing out your final draft of the project. But the hard part is the actual research and finding the right sources. Being distracted is really easy especially when you're sitting next to someone.

  6. I personally think "ugh" when i have to research.. I feel like it's going to be terrible. I guess you could say I'm pessimistic when it comes to researching.
I'm not a very confident researcher either, and I would rate myself as a 3.
When I research, the easiest part is the major facts. They aren't as hard to find, and they're usually definite. The biggest difficulty is usually the small things that vary, because all of the information can get jumbled up. My strengths would definitely be the end product, but my weakness is the amount of time I take.
I usually choose a topic if I know about it already. Like I wouldn't pick a random thing I've never heard of.

    ReplyDelete
  7. @ Charles I think that it is very difficult to make sure that the info on the internet is accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  8. @lauren i totally agree with you! that's what i feel to. I really understand what your saying and can relate to your feelings to.

    ReplyDelete
  9. @elyse I totally agree with you when your talking about the word research!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hearing the word research is pretty upsetting, unless the topic is really interesting. If the teacher assigns the topic, it usually means its going to be boring. It takes a while getting all the research together. It's not fun at all.
As a researcher I am probably 3. I'm not unsure of what to do, but I'm also not amazing at it.
The difficult part of the research is getting all your information together. The easy part of the research is bringing it all together in the essay. My weaknesses are finding the information I want to use. My strength is taking the information, and putting it into the essay. I usually like when teachers give you different topics to choose from.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think the easy part is looking for info that sounds interesting but the harder part is whether it is actually true. I would choose a topic that sounds cool and I might already know past info on.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ Lauren
I agree that when i hear research I think of getting a back grade. I Also thing of the library.

    ReplyDelete
  13. @lian agree! research sounds time consuming and very boring. Maybe we can all find an easier method of studying:)

    ReplyDelete
  14. -When I hear the word research, I think of work and looking up stuff on the internet for many, many hours. I feel bored and sometimes rushed, but it depends on the due date of the project.

-I'm not a very confident researcher. I usually get distracted and sometimes if I'm not interested in my project I put it off until a few days before the project. I would rate myself a 3 or 4.

-The easy part I think is the beginning because the project is fresh in my mind. I think the hardest part is getting my information together and putting it into something that is a big part of my grade. My weaknesses are procrastinating and trying to find good information that suites the project. My strengths are focusing on the topic and being creative with the final project.

-I choose a topic based on how fun it is and how much i can elaborate on it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. When I hear the word research I want to scream. I basically just thing of boredom, sadness, and anxiety. Yea, I know. That probably doesn't sound very reassuring to you, Mrs. Kaminski. I hate research because its all based on facts and what you find. I enjoy things that are more about opinion or story telling or something like that. Anything is better than research.
If I had to rate my research skills I would probably give myself a 2. That's basically just because I can never find the information I'm looking for. Also, because the information I find is never good enough in my eye. Plus, I just really hate research.
The easiest part of research is is I guess picking the topic. Without that you wouldn't have anything to research, and you could pick basically anything. Sometime it is hard to pick a topic though, I would rather be told what my topic is. The most difficult part is deciding what information you need to find. I mean, you have an endless amount of choices so it becomes very difficult. I would say that my strength is putting all the research together at the end. My weakness is probably finding what information is needed, like I said earlier.
I am usually told my topic to research. Sometimes, I do get to choose a topic though. To choose that topic I would choose something that relates to things that I like. I like things that are dramatic and suspenseful. So maybe I would choose to research someone that was murdered. Yea, I know that's not a very happy thought.

  16. @ Lena. Wow Lena I never knew you felt so depressed when you think of the word research.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @ Charles I totally forgot about having to find out about if the research is accurate and totally agree with you. It might not be the hardest part, but it is definitely a part that takes a little more thinking and effort.

    ReplyDelete
  18. i think it is really cool that they are letting us pick our topic because we can pick something that interests us.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can make a project meaningful to me by picking a topic I like and relating it to myself.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I can make a research project meaningful to me because it will be something that i want to learn about.

    ReplyDelete
  21. To make yourself not stress over a topic, write down things you like and pick a good topic that you'll like.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @sarah- that is what i think also!

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Sarah M. That's a good idea to relate it to yourself. Like maybe a sport you do or a place you've been

    ReplyDelete
  24. I could make it meaningful buy using examples and extentions.
It could help me learn extra misc. facts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. To make a research project more meaningful to you, choose something that you are interested in. It will be more interesting for you and less boring.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Charles I agree that it is good that they are letting us pick our own projects!

    ReplyDelete
  27. How can I make a research project meaningful to me? What will I get out of it?

*I wanna do a project on something that intrigues me. I'm not sure quite yet what it will be on though..

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ Aly I completely agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I can make a research project more meaningful to me by trying my best to actually have fun with the topic I chose. It sounds weird I know. This way I can look at next researching projects not as badly and as boring.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can make a research project more meaningful to me by making it a more interesting topic for me. Like I said earlier, that would be a more depressing topic like something about rape or murders. I know that's kind of sad but its stuff that goes on in the world and is entertaining to me. I would get more information about bad things that are going on in the world that could later affect me in life.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ Lena
What if you use the research to develop or strengthen your opinion on a topic... or to tell a story of your own

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can make research meaningful to me by really reading over the information and making something out of it. I would want to do this because i can learn something new or more about something i already know. I can get a lot out of research.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ Aly. I feel the same way because it would be so boring to do a topic that sounds so dull and boring.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @MRSK your confusing me even more. Can we do that? Tell a story of our own using the research? Writing stories isn't really what I think about when I hear "Research". But, I do understand the part about developing and strengthening my own opinion. That's probably what will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No clue what topic i want, ANY IDEAS????????

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am kind of stuck with finding a topic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i have no idea what topic to do. Looking at my prior comments, have any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have an idea of doing the research about Justin Bieber but i am not so sure how i can make a research paper of him without doing a biography. I want to do him because he is amazing and i love him <3 So any ideas how i can people????????

  41. i think i am going to do something about john Deere history

    ReplyDelete
  42. My ideas are Softball, Irish Step dancing, and lacrosse. I choose these because I wanted something I knew about and something I wanted to explore more in.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Aly
You like jelly beans, what about jelly beans? :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. @brennan do something about basketball

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have gymnastics in mind, but there isn't much information about it out there. The history is the boring part of it. Watching someone do it is the exciting part is. How should I find information about it without it being boring?

    ReplyDelete
  46. So hey guys, I was just curious what you're all doing.. I don't want a completely random topic. ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I might do the history of uconns womens basketball

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ Lauren. Nice ideas they sound sooooo interesting. :D

    ReplyDelete
  49. i have decided my physical actions is goggling just bieber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, I also like Greek mythology. Love it, actually. I also love metaphors and things like that. Things with a deeper meaning. Any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I kinda like Music a lot so I might do something on that.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ Lena that sounds really boring no offense. I just might fall asleep if you do that.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think I should do it on Hershey, PA or perfume haha. I'm obsessed. Kenzi, you know my problem.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ lian your so right. Uggg this is a lot harder than I thought! Pooooooooo...

    ReplyDelete
  55. ********** END OF I&S **********

    ReplyDelete
  56. -Since I am doing Coco Chanel, a good source I would use would probably be a data base on a biography because a big part of my project is going to be on her life.
    - I think good information is information that suites your topic and comes from a reliable source.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ Sarah, I agree with your second bullet

    ReplyDelete
  58. For me doing my research on Justin Bieber's Rise to Fame, im finidng appropiate information, like magizines posts, blogs, fans websites, and even some of wikipedia. Im going to make sure that this is accurate information before i take the research any farther. I am feeling confident that i will find good information over the time i have to research this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. My topic is necrophilia. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I suggest looking it up. I'm starting to feel nervous because Mrs. Kaminski told me that I have to make my topic smaller and less general. I've noticed that the best source for it is the newspaper onee. It has lots of articles and information. Good information is accurate and relates to your topic. Also, it is very discriptive.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I hate the research I have gotten so far! It's so general and not helping me at all. I'm starting to get really nervous because I can't refine my topic. This is really hard. Now I'm just skimming everything and trying to find something that will help

    ReplyDelete
  61. Good information has to be accurate. The information should be double checked and from a reliable source.

    ReplyDelete
  62. does anyone have any clue what places to search on the internet besides ebsco host? (google does not count)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think that information is "good" when its accurate, does anyone have a different opinion?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think an appropriate source for finding information in my topic is Youtube. This is because since my topic is about political skits on Saturday Night Live, it should give me various results.

    ReplyDelete
  65. @ elyse I'm having the same problem. WEll not really, but its similar because I can't search on google and I've already done plenty on ebsco so I guess I can't research anything right now. Safe search on google blocks my topic, its really frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Even though it took me a while to get the topic proposal done, I can now look for information.
I think good information is info that is reliable and relates to my topic. It can be descriptive as well just as long as it is about the subject.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @ lena i also had the same problems in terms of my topic being too broad. Since ur doing necrophilia try norrowing it down to why/how people get it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. @ elyse. For my research I am getting a lot of good websites from sweet search.

    ReplyDelete
  69. @ aly thanks for the help! I will try that when I research next time, gracias!

    ReplyDelete
  70. What sources will be appropriate for researching the topic I have chosen?

I think that either absco host or sweetsearch would work well for me because it is aimed at helping students.. any other suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think "good" information is something kinda rare these days because everyone searches on GOOGLE and goes to the first page of searches. Appropriate searching would lead to much better information, and is worth the extra time.

    ReplyDelete
  72. My information on Jonestown so far is going pretty well actually.. Except I'm having some trouble finding helpful information on the uprise of this group, and I can mostly find information about the end of it rather than the beggining.

    ReplyDelete
  73. On Gale ebooks I found I whole biography on a guy that had commited this specific crime (necrophilia). I think I may to my whole project on just him, but I still need to look. I'm feeling kinda grossed out, but I think I can handle it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm wondering if I should've used Wikipedia for a source even though it had good information about my topic

    ReplyDelete
  75. There's a lot of information that I have on my topic and I'm confident about what I researched on it

    ReplyDelete
  76. i am doing different types of skid steers and i am useing the companies websites. I am also useing first hand information from some of the people that i work with and own these skid steers. The results that i have gotton so far all piont to john deere. The two skid steers i am comparing are a gehl and a john deere. Even thogh the deere has a smaller moter it still has identical or better performence than the gehl.

    ReplyDelete
  77. one experience i have had with gehl is when we solod an ager to amwell fence. After we atached the ager we talked for a wile. After chatting for a fewq minets he jump into the skid steer and fired it up. He lost complet power ion the hydrolics and the ager crunched our tail gate.

    ReplyDelete
  78. @ lian
Yeah i agree i am finding a lot of info too.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @Aly- I couldn't find good information on SweetSearch. Any other websites?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Kenzi said...

    @ kenzi
Why dont you try the ebosco i had some good luck with it and its easy to use.

    ReplyDelete
  81. @Lian. Have you tried the biography one? that might help since your doing shawn johnson.... I also heard the ebsco host is a good source too.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm using a web site as my source. I think its reliable and it has a whole thing about Coco Chanel!

    ReplyDelete
  83. @ Lena
I found good info on Gale ebooks 2!

    ReplyDelete
  84. @ lian maybe you shoild try ebsco host and Gale ebooks. They both REALLY helped me and are reliable resources.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I did my note cards and i feel good about them! it was kind of easy besides the citing your source part

    ReplyDelete
  86. @Lena EBSCOhost had a lot of information, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  87. @ sarah I didn't know you were supposed to site your source. I mean, I kinda figured you had to but I just wrote the website down. Is that all you have to do? Cause thats all I did.

    ReplyDelete
  88. So far I have gotten some good info about my topic, but it takes some searching to find it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. @ Lena for my notecards I got ost of the info from easybib.

    ReplyDelete
  90. @ Kenzi I totally agree people just go on wikipedias to get quick info instead of finding more accurate info.

    ReplyDelete
  91. ********** END OF EXPLORATION **********

    ReplyDelete
  92. My topic has totally changed since the beginning because in the beginning it was just necrophilia and now its the biography of a man that had necrophilia. Even though I have a good understanding of what I am doing now, I don'tknow how thisis going to come together. I know I'm going to make it a biography but I dont know what specific facts I want to put in it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I think I have clearly found what I am specifically doing for my topic. I am using notecards with subtopics to organize my information.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I found this really good website that organizes the information into subtopics so I am using that as a guide. I feel confident about my topic and my research so far.

    ReplyDelete
  95. @lena maybe u should look at some of the actual cases of the guy... i remember u told me about one of them

    ReplyDelete
  96. @ aly the problem with the guy is that he commited 17 different cases of murder. Most articles do noto just describe one case, but describe all the cases in total. I'm really frustrated because in order to make my spacebar work I have to hit it right in the middle and like super hard. Ahhhhhhh......

    ReplyDelete
  97. @ lena hmmmm you have a tough situation right here. haha... uhmm.. do they tell u how he got diagnosed or something?

    ReplyDelete
  98. @ aly no they don't. Basically they just diagnosed him with it after they found all the body parts and stuff and then like tested them. You knoiw what I mean, right? Ugggg I'm gonna throw this keyboard across the room!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. @lena thats really nasty.... and that poor keyboard

    ReplyDelete
  100. @ aly I know its gross. For anyone following our conversaiton aly was talking about people diagnosing him with necrophilia and I said that they diagnosed him because they found forensic proof of it. And I won't actually throw the key board, that would just be rude :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. I know this will be a biography at the end, but I really don't want to have to plan an essay. It just seems boring....It's upsetting me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. After Mrs. Kaminski looked at my note cards I realized that I am not as sure of my topic as I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I am still not quite sure what the final product would look like.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Brennan - I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear, but that's a good place to be. If you're having all these questions and uncertainties, it will force you to find a real purpose in your research. That is why this part of the assignment is called FORMULATION.

Does anyone have any ideas to help Brennan?

PS. Notice that when you all try to express your feelings about your job instead of trying to just answer the questions, you get real feedback from your group members. Keep up the thoughts, feelings, and actions!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. @Mrs. Kaminski Yes I am kind of starting to figure out how this research project might come together. And since this part of the assignment is called formulation it should help even more. I should also look for some more info as well.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I don't have any idea how to present my topic. I might make a slideshow, but I need other ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  107. @Lena I was thinking that. Essays are too boring and I can't think of a creative way to present

    ReplyDelete
  108. My research project is definatly going to be Justin Bieber. I am sure that i can provide enough information for this topic and make the best out of it. There are a lot of information on fan websites and wikipedia websites that provied so much information that can help me with my topic being Justin Bieber.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I have been finding some really good websites for my research. The one thing I see as a problem is deciding how I am going to present my project... I do know that I am NOT doing an essay.

    ReplyDelete
  110. i feel annoyed looking for information on my topic (future of facebook) but what i find is pretty interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm getting really confused about this draft proposal. What does the, "Statement of the Problem" mean and how do we plan to prove the problem?

    ReplyDelete
  112. I am getting tired of researching things. I mean it's really bothering me that I have to research stuff. Plus, I'm bothered that the blogs are being graded. Gargle.............

    ReplyDelete
  113. It is hard for me to think a problem relating to my topic. And I also don't know why this research would need to be conducted. Im stuck...

    ReplyDelete
  114. @Lena. I agree, I don't like the fact that the blogs are graded... I don't know why but I almost feel like I'm being watched.. haha I feel like my blog has to be perfect before I submit it and it's kind of annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  115. @ Lena
The statement of the problem is like why your information your researching is important to other people and to prove the problem you basically say what you want to prove to other people about your topic

    ReplyDelete
  116. @ brennan your research could need to be conducted just to make people laugh or something. Sometimes thats inportant :)

    ReplyDelete
  117. @Brennan. Then get unstuck haha:P I am having the same problems.

    ReplyDelete
  118. @ Elyse
I agree that its annoying to do the research but in the end what you find is pretty interesting

    ReplyDelete
  119. @ aly thats exactly how I feel!!!!!!!

oh and I know how to spell important, just incase anyone was wondering because of my last comment.

    ReplyDelete
  120. @Lian, maybe what you can do is make a website with your topic which could be fun and interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  121. @Lena
That is a good idea for envisioning what my finished product might look like since it is a comedic show.

    ReplyDelete
  122. @ brennan your comment sounds sarcastics. Thats so rude...... :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. ********** BEGIN PRESENTATION BLOG **********

    ReplyDelete
  124. Since my topic might include videos, my project should be a presentation that includes a computer. I still not sure the way it will look though.

    ReplyDelete
  125. i think my topic is really bussiness like. But i am confused on what we r going to do to present

    ReplyDelete
  126. @Elyse
Since your topic is bussiness like I am guessing that your audience would want to be adults. I dont think kids would be a great audience. My opinion though

    ReplyDelete
  127. For my Method of Presentation I think I am going to do a website.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I've been thinking and I kind of want to do a Talking Circle, where everyone gathers around me and listens to what I have to say. If they don't like my opinions on things, they will recieve.. a present.

    ReplyDelete
  129. @Kenzi... a present?? Should I be worried?? haha and will your audience be able to add their opinion on your topic and ask questions.. or will it just be you talking

    ReplyDelete
  130. Im not sure what pieces of evidence I should put on my outine. Maybe I should research for more information. Since the cast members are a big part in my project, they should revolve around the evidence part.

    ReplyDelete
  131. @Aly
It's a surprise. and yes, you should be very worried!:) and it will be a group discussion that I lead.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm kind of confused about what I'm doing for my outline. I might do a website but I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I just noticed that since I wrote my notecards this whole thing has become a lot easier. I recommmend giving it a try. It was boring writing them but worth it afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  134. @Sarah M.
Yeah I wasn't sure what to do at first either. I was kind of thinking about doing a website to.

    ReplyDelete
  135. @ Lauren Thanks for giving me the idea of making the audience physcology majors. And, since I know my audience, it is easier for me to be sure that a documentary is the right format.

    ReplyDelete
  136. The format that i want to be using for my topic would be making a fan website. This could be an easy, fun and creative way for me to show my topic and give all the information that i need to provide. Even some extra things to. For organizing i want to make the webiste in different sections of information including all the reasearch that i performed over time. The audiance that would be seeing my webiste would be Justin Bieber's fans.

    ReplyDelete
  137. @Aly I think the webiste idea would be so cool. I am thinking of doing a webiste to for Justin Biebers fans, and for your topic it would be awesome to! I know some pretty cool webistes for making your own website outline so maybe i can show you some sometime!

    ReplyDelete
  138. For my project I think im going to do a speech to younger kids that are starting out in softball because I would want to inspire them with kids that want a role model. Do you guys think that would be boring?

    ReplyDelete
  139. @lauren
I don't think it would be so boring if you include stories of you playing softball. Tell how fun it is and the good times you had. IT WOULD BE AWESOME. :D

    ReplyDelete
  140. @Lauren
I dont think it would be boring either. Make it fun by presenting it with enthusiasum and maybe bring in props to show the kids. You could really catch there attention esspically cause your a teenager too! :) You should do it! it could be really cool! Just like Brennan said! :D

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think I would present my project in front of an audience on a website. My audience would most likely be older teenagers up to adults. This is because they probably know some info about politics which will allow them to understand the jokes.

    ReplyDelete
  142. @ brennan what is your topic again?

    ReplyDelete
  143. @lauren
Political satire on Saturday Night Live.

    ReplyDelete
  144. @ brennan oh okay you could do a like a speech or a documentary like a show(:

    ReplyDelete
